It all started with a Magnavox Video Tennis (commonly known as "PONG") for me. So exciting... SO fast.. What graphics..Neat, but it did get old.. "Beep"...."Boop"..."Beep"...."Boop" Wash, Rinse and Repeat. Then in 77, I got an Atari 2600 with Combat and Space Invaders and my official love of video games was born. I can not tell you how many hours I spent on that machine. I still got out and ran around, rode my bike or my horse, etc....But if I was inside, "Game On!" Graduated to a NES from there. Duck Hunt, Hooligans Alley and Mario were my time kills. After I discovered my Trs-80 Color Computer, the NES got pretty well snubbed unless company came over. The NES still had better graphics, but it was fun typing in programs from magazines like Rainbow and Hot Coco. And NO, they are not "Gay Rights" magazines or anything like that. From there, I went to a Super NES, which is actually the first game system I actually bought for my self. Then I got a Playstation 1. Games like Resident Evil 1, Tomb Raider, F1 Racing and Gran Turismo 1 & 2 just changed my way of thinking about video games. They seemed so much open ended. Then I found Final Fantasy VII. That was an incredible game. My wife got me a PS2 and I played all the way through Final Fantasy X and halfway through X-2 before a Demo disc wiped my card data. I play some Metal Gear and Gran Turismo 4. I played all the way through Katamari Damacy. Very trippy but fun. God of War kicks much ass. But I don't play my PS2 near as much as my older game systems. I'm older and have less free time to do that. Or the fact that I am always playing Joint Operations on my PC with my buddies. And every now and again, I have to spend some time with the wife. You know...Things like that. Plus when you factor in that I travel a lot with my job, I really don't have the time to devote to my PS2. Occasionally if it is a site I can drive to, Ill bring it along. But this is rarely the case. This is where emulators come in I love emulators. Just do. Something about being able to fire up games from my youth and returning to a portion of my life where I didn't have the stresses and responsibilities that I have now. Have a bad day at work while on the road, come back to the room and fire up Stella, an Atari 2600 emulator, load Space Invaders and just play for a bit. Ahhhh. Now you won't find actual emulators or ROMs here, but I have some pretty good information on some of my favorite "Old-School" consoles like the Atari 2600 through Sony Playstation. Anything that I have an emulator for, you will find descriptions here. As I get more untested emulators working, I will post that systems information under the Video Games Page. Most of the information found below is from the site Wikipedia and on select systems, personal experience.
